The museum has now been open for just over a year and a combination of thousands of hours of volunteer time, Heritage Lottery start up funding and Private donations of both money and artefacts has helped us to achieve over 5000 visits in our first year.
The most common comment from visitors is “wow, I never realised there would be so much in here!”.
All of the trustees and volunteers are unpaid and contribute time and a variety of skills to keep the museum open and developing. Although it’s free to come in the museum costs around £3000 a year to run (insurance, materials etc) and we have to raise this money through voluntary donations. Several visitors have said they would like to offer some support to the museum and so we would like to offer the chance to become a Museum Patron.
Annual costs are £12 for Individual Patrons and £25 for Corporate Patrons (of course you are welcome to donate more!) Patrons will receive a Certificate to display and we hope local businesses will see this as good community advertising.
